The Steering Committee meets at least twice a year. Its mandate is to:
Receive and examine the Chair's statements of revenue and expenditure as transmitted by the Bureau du soutien financier (financial support office) on behalf of the Fondation de l'Université Laval and the Service des finances (finance department);
Receive or participate in the establishment and approval of the Scientific Committee's rules of procedure and appoint its members;
Receive, twice a year, or more frequently on an exceptional basis, the grant applications recommended by the Scientific Committee and, if they are approved, request that the necessary funds be released; only applications presented by the Scientific Committee will be considered;
Approve yearly the applications for grants that are applicable to expenditures related to research, training and teaching activities;
Define the grant eligibility rules;
Monitor the use of funds for the purposes of the Chair's research, teaching and development, according to the standards in effect;
Appoint, for the University's finance department, a person responsible for managing the current account, who is authorized to sign the necessary documents;
Contribute to the success of the Chair's staffing project;
Present an annual report on the fulfilment of its mandate, including the statement of revenue and expenditure, to the vice-rector, development, the vice-rector, research or the vice-rector, academic affairs and studies, the Faculty, and the Fondation de l'Université Laval.
