Phase 2 Summary

Based on the results obtained in Phase 1, the research team can support the participating organizations in implementing interventions centred on the organizational risk factors in work-related mental health. Phase 2 of the study, which is currently in progress, began in January 2003 and should end by December 2004. It is structured around three goals:

  1. To develop a diagnostic tool, in the form of an evaluation questionnaire on stress at work (QUEST ©), that can be used directly by the organizations;
  2. To document and improve, in partnership with the work environments, the preventive approaches to work-related mental health problems;
  3. To develop a strategic preventive approach to work-related mental health.

The main results expected are:

  • The simplification of our research tools so as to convey intraining to the organizations;
  • The validation of a psycho-social-organizational model in work-related mental health;
  • Effectiveness indicators of interventions;
  • Documentation of the process of implementing interventions;
  • Finalization of a strategic approach to work-related mental health.

This study will develop a strategic approach to the prevention of work-related mental health problems in addition to providing organizations with prevention tools that they can use on their own.

For your intraining, a third research phase will be needed so as to assess the possibilities of generalizing the prevention approach to other environments and organizational contexts. Preparations were made in Phase 2 to establish a methodological mechanism to carry out this third phase.
